There are many beach houses and bars open on the beach in 2022.Because of the pandemic, there aren't any beach houses or bars open on the beach in the summer of 2020. However, there are no restrictions from going on the beach. Swimming is allowed. Toilets and showers are available, but they are supposed to get too crowded.

Yuigahama 由比ガ浜 Beach is the most popular around Kanagawa 神奈川 and Tokyo 東京.
A lot of young people go there to enjoy summer holidays.
This is Kamakura 鎌倉 Station in Kanagawa 神奈川 prefecture. It takes about 1 hour from Shinjuku 新宿 Station in Tokyo 東京.
Train fare: 940 yen (One way)
* Exit from the east exit 東口. A tourist information center is available there.
There is a supermarket Tokyu Store next to Kamakura 鎌倉 Station.
You can buy food and drinks there. The prices at the beach houses are more expensive than this supermarket.
You can bring your own food and drinks to the beach, not into the beach houses and food Court.
The store offers many kinds of Japanese style foods such as sushi, tempura, tonkatsu and so on.
Credit card is accepted in Tokyu Store.

Occasionally I meet international tourists in Tokyo who come to Japan just because they're curious about the country and its culture, sometimes as young as early twenties.
They have no plans where to go in Japan. It's not a problem, of course, I would like to see them to enjoy Japan even more.
In the summer (July and August), I recommend they go to the beach in Kamakura 鎌倉 City. You can swim there and eat delicious food at the beach houses.
There are many food shops on the beach.
There are two areas with public bathrooms and showers that can be used for free at the beach. However, these are often crowded. (The showers are closed at 5:00pm.)
Women change into their clothes (swimming wear) inside the bathrooms. Men change into their clothe outside the bathroom though.
There are also private locker rooms, bathrooms, and showers at the beach houses that can be used for a fee.

- Bringing your own food in is strictly prohibited in the food court.
- Self-service: You should return your empty dishes and glass to the return shelf. Please clean the table by yourself.
You can go sightseeing around Kamakura Station as well. There are shopping streets, and many historical shrines and temples.
No smoking
Smoking is accepted only a few smoking sections on the beach.
Rental parasol costs 1300 yen (until 5:00 pm).
* When you leave you don't need to return it. The staff will get it back at 5:00 pm.

Memo
In contrast, Yuigahama Beach looks not beautiful like the blue oceans and white sandy beaches in Okinawa 沖縄 prefecture, Japan or Hawaii in the US.
Don't worry!
Yuigahama Beach has just naturally dark water and gray sand, and the beach is cleaned up enough, and the water is not polluted despite the darkened shade.
Enjoy swimming and relaxing time on the beach!
